“As an operating room nurse for more than 20 years, who has had extensive exposure to many excellent plastic surgeons, I feel qualified to recommend Dr. Elizabeth S. Lee. Dr. Lee did a fabulous job removing a nasty cancer. The scar is minute and will soon be invisible despite the size of the chunk she had to excise. I found her down to earth and very kind, explaining things to me as a patient, not just a nurse. The office is spotless, organized, and serene. Erin and Carmen were very helpful too. Thank you so very much Dr. Lee and staff!”

"Two months after I got my tummy tuck I felt like I was healing well and returning slowly to my normal activities. But then I started feeling a sharp, stabbing pain--like a running cramp under my breastbone--whenever I engaged my core. I worried about this pain because it made me limit my movements to protect my stomach, and that ruled out so many things I loved doing: singing, making wheel-thrown pottery, picking up my kids, even rolling over in bed. I talked to Dr. Lee about it and she explained that this pain was likely due to poor communication between my brain and my muscles, and suggested Body Tone to reestablish this connection and get rid of the pain.
The treatment took thirty minutes and I was able to hang out comfortably and read. The machine was only at fifty percent power, and I worried that might not be strong enough, but it worked! I walked out of the office after that one treatment and the stabbing pain was gone. As the next week wore on, different muscle groups continued to wake up and I experienced another cramp in a different spot, and one a week later, but with the next Body Tone session the cramps completely cleared up. By the end of two weeks and four sessions of Body Tone, I could move and stretch without pain or dysfunction and do all those things I loved. It's now been seven months since my surgery and I never had those stabbing pains come back. — Elise

I had an excellent experience coming in for Diva treatment. I was a bit nervous because I didn’t know what to expect. Dr. Lee talked me through the procedure and what to expect. Carmen was the nurse that performed my Diva treatments and she was very comforting and fun. The Diva treatment worked really well and I recommend the treatment and Dr Lee.

“It has been a week since my appointment with Dr. Lee at Artful Surgery; I waited a week to leave my review to give the most accurate representation of not only my experience, but the results of my injections as -generally speaking- it takes about a week for all (super normal) swelling etc., to go down.
Dr. Lee is articulate, thorough, kind, gracious, and has a great eye. She understood what I was asking for, and delivered. She was honest and answered my questions in a way that I found helpful, educational and straight forward.
Her office is super clean, and all covid related protocol was absolutely followed to a T.
My lips and cheeks look fantastic, I love them; this was not my first or second experience with injectables, and Dr. Lee stands out as a leading exemplar in her field. Thank you Dr. Lee and Erin! I’m looking forward to my next appointment!”— lc

“My first visit to the office I was taken with how bright and lovely it is. After becoming a patient, I discovered that Dr. Lee is an incredible surgeon, an artist with injectables, and vastly knowledgeable about skincare. She gives thorough consultations with straightforward, honest information so her patients have realistic expectations. She is generous with her time and answers every question.
Dr. Lee’s nurse, Carmen, is an excellent technician for laser treatments as well as cool sculpting. She does her best to make every procedure as comfortable as possible. She is knowledgeable and caring.
The front office staff is always helpful and friendly. I would (and do) highly recommend Dr Lee for all the services that she and her office expertly provide.”— Christine N.

“Sometime ago, while hiking with a girlfriend who, like me, is in her 60’s, I mentioned how fabulous her skin was, and she told me about Dr. Lee and this laser procedure “Tyte & Bryte” which was why her skin tone was so even and why she never has to wear make up! I have spent years feeling self-conscious about scarring from teenage acne and have always worn makeup because of sun damage from years of exposure and uneven skin tone. So as a birthday gift to myself, I decided to have a consultation with Dr. Lee.
Her office is elegant and a quick ride from my house in the Oakland hills. She was deeply knowledgeable and totally authentic about what she would and would not recommend for my skin type and concerns, and she felt that indeed the “Sciton Tyte & Bryte” would make a significant difference. I trusted her. I also have several friends who go to her for filler and they always look terrific-like they are found in nature- not strangely thick lipped or puffed up! So I went ahead and booked the five recommended sessions.
I could not be happier! There is absolutely no downtime, and on several occasions I had meetings that day or the next day, and there was very little noticeable swelling or redness. The procedure is fast and relatively painless. It feels like a rubber band snapping on your face, and only lasts seconds. She is very specific as to how she paces the laser and at what settings. She knows her stuff and is incredibly focused and precise. Which is why I wanted to go to a surgeon instead of some technician at a spa for this kind of treatment.
Although I still have one more session to go, the results have been noticeable and my skin is hugely improved. My skin tone is even and the pockmarks have been significantly reduced. In addition, my skin just looks “brighter and tighter”. I should also mention that her staff is knowledgeable and very supportive, I have never had to wait – she always seems to run on time, and when I have had any concerns whatsoever, she has called me back immediately. Dr. Lee is a lovely person and runs a terrific practice. I highly recommend her. If, like me, you are not interested in surgical or invasive options, I would check out Tyte & Bryte and this wonderful practice!”— Amy G.

“I’m a tightwad with my money. Working for a nonprofit I don’t make a lot so I have to be. However, I have struggled all my life with an ugly pooch and “unloved handles.” I had lost 25 lbs. and got down to a normal BMI for my age and yet there they remained… pooch and handles. UGH!
A friend recommended Dr. Lee for Coolsculpting. I was impressed by her knowledge and her facility. It was more expensive than I thought it would be but having four machines available and a strong treatment plan developed, I took the dive.
I had 12 cycles completed on my mid section in one sitting (no back and forth over multiple weeks). Now I know my results are not typical, but I started seeing results in two weeks. It’s now been almost 4 months and my weight has been up and down by 10 lbs. and let me tell you, my proportions throughout the swinging weight have been phenomenal. Pooch and handles gone!
Also, Dr. Lee and her staff are delightful, respectful, and most of all… knowledgeable and qualified! I tell everyone a out how wonderful my experience was and how happy I am with the results. I also qualify that with letting them know it is some of the best money I have EVER spent.
If you are a candidate for Coolsculpting, this is the place to go! I proudly recommend!
Thank you Dr. Lee for taking away the “cringe” from my morning mirror routine and replacing it with a smile and confidence!”— Daniel H.

“Outstanding surgical outcome with exceptional support after breast implant removal. Dr Lee made me feel very welcomed and answered all my questions. The facility in Greenbae for the surgery was also incredibly kind and supportive. She is not in my experience pushing unneeded extras – quite the contrary as she suggested waiting for six months before considering a breast lift. In short she is a total professional with a wonderful and charming personality.”— Anna L.

“I could not have had a better experience or outcome after a breast implant exchange with Dr. Lee. Almost 2 years ago I underwent a breast augmentation at another office and the results were far from my expectations.
Coming to Dr. Lee I connected instantly feeling she really listened to what my concerns and end goal was. Having a lot of questions she sent me home with options to consider. Working with her we came up with a solution and she executed our vision to the fullest and I could not be happier. I am 2 and a half weeks post op and she has seen me weekly to make sure the healing process is going smoothly.
She takes the time to assess how I am feeling and give me my freedom/restrictions within what I can do that week. I am forever grateful how she has made me feel about my body again and cannot promote her enough. Best decision I have ever made!
The women running her office are absolutely amazing and accommodating as well.
Highly recommend!!!”— Megan S.

“Consultation for Cool Sculpting as well as facial procedures; Tyte & Bryte, botox and fillers…
Dr. Lee was professional, personable and thorough in her consultation. She listened intently to my concerns and provided me with options. She took several photos which were used to diagram the areas of concern and treatment options.
After meeting with the Doctor, her staff provided me with a cost breakdown of the various procedures. They were courteous and knowledgeable. A new front office staff member was being trained while I was there… this did not have any negative impact on the experience.
I have not yet had the procedures. I would caution any reader of the negative YELP reviews to read further and determine as I did, that they were based upon reactions to costs, deposits and reimbursements rather than procedural reviews. I do not discount these reviews as legitimate but I find most to be very subjective and emotional in nature… which didn’t have a great deal of value for me.”

“I took my time to research different CoolSculpting clinics – knowing there’s lots of differences in skill-level and methodologies. I consulted with MDs in Walnut Creek and Danville/ Alamo until I found Dr. Elizabeth Lee in Lafayette. I’m in healthcare myself, and found her to be truly outstanding – focused on wellness and health, not just vanity and aesthetics. She is one of the first physicians that I’ve met to offer tons of educational resources and practical tips about dieting and nutrition as well.
I purchased cycles CoolSculpting to diminish my ‘muffintop’ and after 5 weeks, it’s made an incredible difference (and the results keep coming after 12 weeks). Others have commented on my ‘flat tummy’ without my saying a word. The experience was a bit painful with some swelling for a few days. However, I was able to resume regular exercise and activity in 24 hours (just take it slow). My biggest advice is to drink lots of water, consult with the office for any additional advice and post-treatment care, and start getting excited when you get out of the shower and look at the results of CoolSculpting. It works, it makes sense scientifically – and you are in good hands with a smart and well-experienced Dr. Elizabeth Lee. It will change you!”— Corey M.

“After 2 kids and turning 40, I started noticing changes in my body and specifically that I was experience stress incontinence at a rate that seemed fairly significant for my age. After a lot of reading and research I decided to try the diVa treatment with Dr. Lee. who was recommended in my area.
I’m a fairly squeamish patient with a low pain tolerance and I was extremely nervous about being lasered in this most sensitive area but I had also recently gone through a divorce after 18 years of marriage and I was suffering from low self-esteem and the natural feelings that come after turning 40 and being single again. I felt that doing something for myself and taking care of an issue that had really been bothering me would help give me a boost.
From the moment I arrived at Dr. Lee’s office, I knew I had made the right decision. Her office staff is both cheerful and calming, she’s one of the most down-to-earth doctor’s I’ve ever met, she never talks down to you and genuinely cares about getting the best outcome for you. I especially like the fact that you can tell she’s an advocate for women’s health, she cares about all aspects of her patients and she makes you feel completely at ease. The rest of the staff are a complete pleasure to deal with and make you feel very relaxed and cared for.
Truthfully the procedure itself ended up being a lot more painful than I had bargained for based on the other reviews I had read. Thankfully it’s very quick and the painful portion comes at the very end and only lasts a couple of minutes but I was definitely clenching my teeth and had to stop a couple of times to rest before resuming. The nice part is that Dr. Lee and the staff will work with you on subsequent treatments to help you getting a better result with the numbing cream (hint….you need to lay down for the full hour and shift into a few different positions to ensure that the numbing cream hits all sides of the vagina). Every person is different, like I said I have a low tolerance for pain and it’s only a couple of minutes and for me the pain stopped as soon as the laser was off so there wasn’t any residual or throbbing pain afterward. I had a very slight amount of bleeding after the 2nd treatment but not enough to even wear a pad. Otherwise no side affects and no issues.
I did the full round of 3 treatments spaced 6 weeks apart and have seen great results. I’ve seen a huge improvement in the stress incontinence and have definitely noticed a big difference in lubrication and sensation during sex. Working with Dr. Lee, I’ve decided to also continue with a refresher treatment to continue to improve upon the results further. She has recommended ways to feel more comfortable for subsequent procedures (ibuprofen ahead of time, different methods with numbing cream positions etc.) and I love that she can take very honest feedback and work with you to find the best solution.”— SadieBuddy

“I have been seeing Dr. Lee for Dysport and Voluma for several years. She is not the first physician I have received these injections from, however, she is the only one who does not leave me bruised, ever, and I bruise quite easily. That, in and of itself, is why I recommend Dr. Lee to others seeking botox or dermal filler treatments.”

“My knowledge of Dr Lee is a periodic patient of hers over the last 5 or so years. What is first most striking about her is her intelligence and wide-ranging knowledge, her respectful, friendly, & warm manner, and quiet confidence. She shows genuine interest in her patients and, made me feel welcome and at ease immediately which, as I look back, was important for as a male client in a practice whose patients are overwhelming women.
As a professional working for 25+ years in a health service profession allied with medicine, I’ve come to the conclusion that those professionals who clearly enjoy their work are the most likely to be very good at what they do. Dr. Lee exemplifies this as she clearly loves her work and goes out of her way to continually update her knowledge base and skills. She clearly explained to what options were available for what goal, which procedures she would recommend, and what her rationale was for making the recommendations that she did.
Don’t expect Dr. Lee to sit you down, disempower you by telling you what your goals should be or what you need. Instead, you’ll be treated with respect and courtesy, you’ll learn about the range of available options and the pros and cons of each, and it will be YOU who decides how to proceed.
In sum, I couldn’t imagine any professional in her field whom I’d rather seek consultation and treatment from. I’ve looked at some of the reviews on Yelp and I’m at a loss to understand some of the negative evaluations as they describe somebody quite different from the Elizabeth Lee that I’ve come to now. My only explanation for these is that there are “different strokes for different folks” but if you want a competent, friendly professional, look no further!”— Phillip H.

“I’m a youthful looking mid-fifties woman with hooded eyes. A few years ago I noticed I was constantly raising my eyebrows; it was getting harder to see clearly as my upper eyelids drooped and weighed down my eyes. Not only did I look “mean” and tired, my forehead was constantly fatigued by the end of the day, and that made me feel tired when I actually wasn’t (kind of like yawning makes you feel tired, even if you aren’t.) Dr. Lee was AMAZING. Realistic, kind, and very good at what she does, I felt I was in very good hands. She met with me a week before the procedure so I could ask any questions, and to talk through what recovery would entail. The day of the surgery, I was nervous until I saw Dr. Lee in her scrubs, all smiles and so calm and caring. The nursing staff was over the top sweet, and I was just so well cared for in every way. Three weeks later, I am back to my regular routine, wearing contacts, and my eyes look GREAT!”

“Dr. Lee and her staff we wonderful to work with. Like hanging out with your best girl friends! They really cared and understood my needs. I’d had cool sculpt before with good results but these results were really outstanding. They absolutely melted away the annoying lumpy fatty areas around belly and hips in only 3 sessions. It took a total of 4 months for it to be perfect but the fat kept melting away slowly until I now have the flat stomach I’ve wanted for years and smooth hips. No more Spanx! Additionally the treatments I’d had at another doctor were extremely painful. The treatments at Dr. Lee’s were not!! It can be uncomfortable because it gets cold and then it goes numb. But I was amazed that it didn’t hurt anything like the first time I went. The treatment exceeded my expectations. I was sure I was going to have to get another cool sculpt session but I don’t need it at all! I am maintaining this by keeping a healthy diet and exercise but I am astonished at the results. I would highly recommend Dr. Lee and her staff. I trust them to do a great job.”— HannaBanana1

“I’ve spent most of my life hiding my breasts. About 20 years ago, in my late 30s I interviewed 2 plastic surgeons and made the wrong choice, for a number of reasons. I had breast reduction but the (male) doctor said “you don’t want to be that small after all these years, you don’t want to be smaller than a D. He also never mentioned that with weight gains (swings of 10lbs, not huge amounts) menopause and gravity you can end up as big or bigger than you were before.
That being said, I spent the last 5-7 years wishing I’d waited. I felt guilty like it was all because I’d “let myself go” and didn’t want to spend more money on myself. Several times in the last 4 years I spoke to a number of doctors and had pretty much given up the idea, because I was told more than once “you won’t look that different because you have wide, wrap around type breasts”. One doctor said “they aren’t out of proportion “. After being introduced to Realself.com by a friend (that had implants removed) in another state, I had consultations with 3 more doctors. I honestly thought it was another exercise in futility.
When I met Elizabeth Lee she explained a newer procedure that enabled her to remove a lot of the tissue from the ‘sides’. Just before surgery she said “just to clarify, you want me to make y as small as I can”, to which I replied “absolutely”.
I am not fully healed, but I am so happy to say that I have gone from a G+ to about what will be a C cup. Which for a 5’4” size 8 looks to be in perfect proportion, for the first time in my life.
My rehab was easier than anticipated and my outcome is beyond expectation. Many thanks to Dr Lee. I’m not one to go back and do ‘something else’, this is my one dream, so all I can do it hopefully send more frustrated women in her direction.”— Susan Freeman

“Dr Lee was honest and straightforward about outcomes and results. She didn’t pressure me to get a lift, like some of the other doctors I visited. When you are getting your breast implants removed a lot of doctors tell you that you will hate the results, she didn’t do that. She doesn’t pressure you to get new implants or a lift, she just explains your options and possible results. She is supportive and skilled and I am very happy with my results.”— 6000

“I had horrible pregnancies suffering from pre-eclampsia, severe edema and very large babies. Needless to say it wrecked havoc on my poor tummy. What used to be flat, tight and strong became stretched out, puffy and saggy. I am an avid runner and my tummy got in the way. No matter how much weight I lost or fit I became, my tummy would not improve. After 10 years of desire and with my 40th birthday approaching, I finally decided to do what I always wanted and have a tummy tuck. I initially hesitated about spending so much money on myself, because I’m a mother and wife, that’s what we do – worry about everyone else all the time. I have zero regrets! It was so well worth it for my happiness, health and well being.
Before contacting any doctors I conducted a lot of research and then narrowed it down to a few options and went to consults – I ultimately choose the most amazing female surgeon in the Bay Area: Dr. Elizabeth Lee (see more on her in my Dr. review).
I’m now four months post op and ecstatic with my new and improved body. I’m back to running and working out after giving myself ample time to heal, and I feel amazing! I have so much energy, my weight is under control, my clothes fit better and my confidence is at an all time high! My family is so happy for me and I’m in a better place both physically and emotionally, which allows me to be a better mother to my children and partner to my spouse. I’ve included some before and after shots where I am 4 month post op.”

“Sometimes we trip and fall, and all we can do is pick ourselves back up again. But, sometimes you fall on concrete and pick yourself up only to find out that you’ve just acquired two nasty scrapes on your forehead and nose. Bummer.
I ended up developing some nasty scars on those areas. After a couple weeks, they stopped getting better on their own. I sought out some professional advice and ended up at Dr Lee’s office. She took a look, gave advice, reminded me I’m not a kid anymore (more advice), and then worked her magic.
Scars are almost completely healed and my face no longer looks like a mess. As a bonus, she even helped me with some stitches I had from a nasty cut on my scalp. Much love to Dr Lee and her crew!”— K A.

“I’m 55 years old. And ever since the birth of my first child I went from having a flat stomach, to what I called my “baby belly.” No amount of exercise or crunches could affect this bulge. I was self-conscience of my profile – especially in dresses. Pants and jeans were a challenge because of all the added bulk in the mid-section. I didn’t want to do liposuction because it is invasive and costly. I have a fear of any type of surgery and in addition, could not afford to take time off work. Then one day I was driving and heard an ad on the radio promoting CoolSculpting. Of course I hopped online to research and I knew this could be the solution I was looking for, but discovered there were lots of practitioners offering this service. Fortunately, one local doctor had a testimonial from another patient who mentioned that my OB/GYN had referred her to this doctor. Score! I immediately called and scheduled an appointment with Dr. Elizabeth Lee in Lafayette, CA. From my initial phone call, to every time I visit the office, the entire staff including Dr. Elizabeth are the warmest, kindest group of women. And the best part is I never feel judged one little bit. I have always felt comfortable and if anything, seem to leave feeling better about myself and with a boost of self-confidence. I initially did the CoolSculpting on my lower tummy/abdomen. Izabella is fantastic the care she takes to make you comfortable during the process and answered with patience and a smile my endless questions. I was so thrilled with the results that 4 months later I had my flanks (muffin top) done as well. In fact, I just visited Dr. Elizabeth last week to talk about the ghastly bra bulge that develops with age and explore my options. If you are hesitating to explore this solution, don’t. HOWEVER, do know that there is a HUGE difference between offices. Dr. Elizabeth Lee’s office is at the top of the list and often trains other practitioners. Go with the best. You will not be disappointed!!”— dbrock681

“Feeling better each day. Doing more and more in the effort to get back to my normal life. At almost five weeks, I am still feeling a bit of pulling in one spot on my right side, but am standing up 98% straight…when I feel the pull, its a clear sign to chill out! Still taking ibuprofen 3 times a day. Also, not really back to my same energy levels yet. Last night, went out to dinner and had one cocktail with my meal and then came home and felt super swollen and bloaty!
As far as compression undies, I found these on Amazon and they rock: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01F0B7OFM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
My favorite so far…I really need something that went super high to go all the way over my abdomen to not sit somewhere where work had been done. Though my belly is still pretty numb for the most part, I can feel it when the undies are not in the right spot.
Incision is healing well…using micropore tape and changing every few days. Per my PS, thats all I am supposed to do at this point for scar healing.
Over all, I am loving my results. I feel like my body is back in the proper proportion. I love just putting on a t-shirt and not having to see my belly stick out. I never really had a flat belly, even before having kids, so my new tummy is truly a vast improvement!
Like so many, I wanted to to this but put it off because of the perceived pain and challenge to make it happen. I think the key is just get really organized and prepared to truly “check out” for a good month! Have help lined up for kids, household, driving, and food needs. Take enough time off work to heal properly. Don’t push it with housework. Yesterday was the first day I folded some laundry a and put it away. I thought that sitting on the sidelines and watching the buzz of my busy family swirl all around me and make a mess would really bug me, but in all honesty, it really didn’t. Post op, I really didn’t care how messy the house was. A nice exercise in releasing, which for moms can be hard. As far as pain, I actually never really was in true pain as much as just a discomfort from moving around in the early post op period. Tenderness, sore, and tired…yes. But pain was really controlled.
4 days post
I am like a new woman! That first shower was heaven. I brought a little stool from outside into my shower and mostly sat down, using the hand held shower head. I had a HUGE knot in my hair, from being in the recliner…word to the wise, if you have long hair: Braid it to a avoid a serious snarl situation!
Drains were removed today and that feel very odd, but not painful. Having all the bandages removed was great, as they were pulling my skin and I think making it even more challlenging to try to stand straighter. My back is super sore and weak from the hunching situation. As long as I am in the recliner, I don’t feel it as much, but when I take my hourly jaunt to get up to pee, I can’t wait to recline again because my back is so tweaked. Now that tape is off and drains out, I will slowly start trying ton straighten up, while still being patient. I keep[ reminding myself I am not even a week post op, so all things considered, doing great.
My doc told me I was doing pretty well in the hunch dept. Though my results are an immediate and vast improvement, I know I feel so much better when my posture is good and swelling is down.”

“I had never heard about Sciton Tyte and Bryte until I contacted Dr Lee’s office for Coolsculpting coolmini consult. Upon my first phone call to the office to schedule a consultation I was impressed. Impressed with knowledge. Dr Lee gave me a thorough exam to make certain I was a candidate for both procedures. She is honest! No B.S. her office staff is no different. Dr Lee’s medical assistant LeeAnne has decades of experience and she shares it. I was going to have Ultherapy or Thermage procedures. Once I compared the latter 2 procedures to Tyte and Bryte there was no comparison. I made the investment. there are 5 treatments 2 weeks apart. each treatment last 30 minutes. Results for me were immediate, continuous and fabulous.
The coolscultpting cool mini was also successful for me and highly recommend both to anyone who would like to ease the appearance of your wrinkles crinkles even your tone and tighten the skin.”— v_m

“Dr. Lee is amazing! In August 2015 I had Cool Sculpting on my “muffin tops”. Dr. Lee and her staff made me feel pampered and very comfortable before, during and after the treatment. They explained thoroughly what to expect immediately after the treatment, and in the following weeks. In addition to length of time (4 months) to see full results. Within 3 weeks I had lost 1/2 inch from my waist! Simultaneously, through portion control, I have lost 20 pounds, and a total of 4 and 1/2 inches from my waist! I am thrilled! In the past I have lost weight, but the stubborn fat around my middle always hung on. This has given me my figure back. Friends are amazed at my results. Did I say, “I’m thrilled”? I highly recommend Dr. Lee.”— Lori J

“I’m a very active mom, of two (9yrs & a special needs 4yr old), who works full time. My second child took a toll on my body and with what excercise I can get in, I’ve plateaued. I have some areas that I feel need some added attention, and I don’t have three hours a day to spend at the gym. I have been researching CoolSculpting for about two years and finally decided to get a consultation. My research led me to Doctor Lee, as I was looking for a plastic surgeon with a great reputation.
Dr. Lee was very personable and easy to talk to. Her staff was amazing, and made me feel immediately comfortable. While I really wanted three areas done, I decided to book an appointment to have two areas done, and will go back to have the third once I see my full results.
The day of my procedure, I was greeted by a nurse, as Dr. Lee has registered nurses perform the sessions. My treatment consisted of the back of my arms and love handles. The procedure was six sessions of my back (3 each side) and four sessions on my arms (2 on each arm)…this took all day. Doctor Lee’s staff was wonderful…I relaxed, watched Netflix and was offered food and drinks all day. The sessions on my back were complete easy, the worst part being the VERY cold sheet they put on your skin before applying the applicator. There is a pulling sensation and within a minute or two your numb and don’t feel a thing. My arms…were a little different. The suction from the applicator created the left part of my palm, ring and pinky fingers to go completely numb. I’ll be honest I freaked out, but DR. Lee’s staff was wonderful and reassured me that this was a normal sensation and the feeling would return. I finished the session (although very unsure if it was the right thing to do) and within 5 mins of removing the applicator the numbness subsided…so I decided to keep going and I ended up completing all four sessions for my arms. My right arm didn’t do as well as my left, as the numbness hung on. In fact, it took almost 5 days for all of the feeling to return in my right hand/fingers. However, I’m 11 days in and all is well; I have complete feeling back.
Be advised, if you are a bruiser you will likely bruise or get really bad hickey like marks from the suction. My hickey marks were ridiculous…black in parts. However, they started to resolve within a few days, and by day 10, they were non-existent.
I had ZERO down time. I was back at work the following day…if you have ever done bootcamp class and have been really sore the days following, then you have experienced the type of “pain” associated with CoolSculpting. It’s nothing a little Tylenol or Advil can’t take care of. By day six, I started getting some annoying pains on my under arms, kind of like an irritated rash being touched, but it’s nothing significant, a little rubbing of the area and it goes away.
All of the areas I had done are still numb to the touch and slightly swollen…in my follow up appointment yesterday, I was reassure this is normal. I am really looking forward to seeing my results (nothing yet due to swelling) but for now, I can say the procedure was easy, with no down time, and mild soreness in the days that followed. If your considering Coolsculpting…check out Dr. Lee, she is wonderful.”— Delicatelilflower

Why did you choose Dr. Elizabeth Lee as your Plastic Surgeon?
Dr. Lee was referred by a friend whom I have known for many years and is not easily pleased!
What was your overall impression of Dr. Lee and the way she practices medicine?
From 1st visit to my last I knew that I had chosen the right professional for my needs. Although I felt nervous and awkward I was relaxed and assured that Dr. Lee was capable of taking care of my problem.
What were some of the major benefits you received as a result of your plastic surgery? In my 64th year being rid of a self consciousness that I found inhibiting. I am able to participate in activities that I had avoided or felt uncomfortable doing.
How could she have improved her service to you? (Please be candid)
I’m sorry that a photo of before was not taken and that a projection of what I might look like after the procedure was not presented to me.
How would you describe Dr. Lee’s care to someone who might be interested in plastic surgery?Dr. Lee is someone to be completely trusted – Her skill as a surgeon; relationship to patient; choosing competent facilities and supportive staff i.e. “anthesiologist”. I think that her fees are reasonable for the amount of service and care. The whole experience was easier than I expected; her office staff a pleasure to deal with.
P.S. I think I would like to see Dr. Lee for a follow visit— M. A.

“After 4 pregnancies, weight gain and loss, my abdominal area was a mess. I had lots of skin, a huge kangaroo pouch and nothing that I did on my own with exercise or diet made a big difference. It was difficult to choose clothing to obscure the pouch while fitting well in other areas. I basically had to stay with maternity-esque, empire-waist, loose designs which covered everything but made me look larger than I was.
I also had backaches and posture issues (I’m still working on proper posture and breathing.) After reading various websites and watching youtube videos. I asked my OB-GYN for a recommendation for a plastic surgeon and she gave me Dr. Lee’s name. I was nervous about having surgery but at the same time I knew this was the only way to truly improve my abdominal area.
When I had my consultation when Dr. Lee in October 2014 most of my nervousness fell away. I’m naturally a bit wary about everything but the consultation was excellent. She was clear, direct and confident and this put me at ease. I was a candidate for the abdominoplasty with a revision of my C-section scar from my 3rd delivery.
I had to arrange in home help with my children esp the youngest for my recovery. The weeks before the surgery were a blur of interviewing for childcare. It was Dec 18th before I knew it. I was nervous but determined. The surgery went well. I wasn’t in much pain after, just feeling strange & spacey from the medication on the ride home.
Once I got home, I did get dizzy and faint twice. I was sitting on my bed with my husband so I didn’t fall or injure myself. (semi off topic: I had a jaw surgery years ago and the same thing happened. I fainted after going to the bathroom and the nurses had to carry me back to the bed. Perhaps that’s just how my body responds to surgeries?)
During the recovery phase I noticed more discomfort (I only felt actual pain when I sneezed or coughed) but the medicine schedule kept that under control. I even resumed breastfeeding after the days of waiting required to rid my body of the anesthesia. It wasn’t easy with an 11-month-old but it would have been even more difficult now as my son has only gotten more active and rambunctious. I’m glad that I didn’t wait or I might’ve put it off even longer.
I’m aprx 10 months post-surgery at this writing and still experiencing some swelling, especially on hot days or if i’ve been extra active. Wearing a body shaper helps mitigate it. I do have a thin, smooth, flat scar and quite a bit of hyperpigmentation as I expected(I have brown skin and any sort of cut/burn/scratch results in a dark mark that takes a long time to fade). I’ve been advised to continue taping the area.
Even though I’m a worrier by nature I haven’t regretted this abdominoplasty for one second. I’m pleased with the result and being able to wear more types of clothing. I don’t miss the overhang and extra sweatiness I’d experience with that fold(I would have to use powder or natural deodorant under my stomach on hot days). My backaches have been reduced and I feel an extra incentive to keep a decent diet & exercise plan. I’m really pleased with having a manageable shape now!”

Why did you choose Dr. Lee as your Plastic Surgeon?
I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Lee at Children’s Hospital Oakland. She impressed me with her surgical skill, her professionalism and her diplomatic communication approach. Also, I wanted a woman for my surgeon. I feel more comfortable and confident under the care of a female plastic surgeon. I believe being a woman she possesses insight of the finite needs/wishes of her female clients which I believe would escape a male surgeon.
What was your overall imprssion of Dr. Lee and the way she practices medicine?
Professional, sensitive, diplomatic, honest and available – a physician’s accessibility to the client/patient is of paramound importance, especially when dealing with the intricacies of a client postoperative needs after plastic surgery or procedure.
What were some of the major benefits you received as a result of your plastic surgery?
A more positive self identity. I have had breast augmentation and facial procedures (botox, collegan injections, blue peel, Obaji skin care program). I look and feel wonderful.
How could she have improved her service to you?
Elizabeth and her staff are wonderful, very attentive – I don’t have a criticism.
How would you descrive Dr. Lee’s care to someone who might be interested in plastic surgery?
A perfectionist in what she does, she listens to the wishes of her clients and then describes the options to accomplish the end result the client is seeking. Uncompromising to attaining the desired end result for each client. You feel completely safe in her surgical hands.— S. A

“Dear Dr. Lee,
It’s been almost 6 weeks since you took the stitches out my knee after removing that weird tumor. I just want you to know how much I appreciate what you did for me. Although the procedure was sumple, it has made a huge difference in my life. I am no longer in pain, which is absolutely wonderful. Best of all, I am now able to be so much more physically active. Every day I am getting stronger, and I feel more like my old self than I have in a long, long time.
Many, many thanks for having the courage to remove the “bump” when so many other doctors would not. You will always have my profound gratitude.”— J. M.

Why did you choose Dr. Lee as your Plastic Surgeon?
My dermatoligis (Cornelia Pessoa) and my surgeon (Dr Mbanugo), specialists in disparate fields, each unhesitatingly recommended Dr. Lee to me, the former suggesting that Dr. Lee would be the best possible candidate to remove a mole from my face, the latter proposing that she perform the reconstructive surgery post-mastectomy.
What was your overall imprssion of Dr. Lee and the way she practices medicine?
My overall impressions are several. She takes her work very seriously, but not herself. She is prepared, confident, realistic, thorough, a perfectionist. She is gifted. She exemplifies professionalism. One feels absolutely secure in her presence.
What were some of the major benefits you received as a result of your plastic surgery?
It is always important to a patient-to-be, especially one facing surgery, to know that he will be in the best possible hands. Thanks to Drs. Pessoa and Mbanugo, I had that certainty before I even met Dr. Lee. I later had the good fortune to see and experience Dr. Lee’s talent firsthand. I awoke from a major operation secure in the knowledge that my appearance, to the casual observer, would be virtually unchanged (a tremendous comfort when one has undergone something so potentially traumatic), and that shortly my faily life would resume, also as if nothing had changed. I hadn’t realized before then how very important the appearance of normalcy is, especially when one is feeling anything but normal!Re the removal of the mole under my eye: Within a few days there was not a trace of the mole which had been there for 40 years(!); not even a scar marked my skin. Dr. Lee’s skills are exceptional.
How could she have improved her service to you? (Please be candid)
I don’t see how her service could be improved upon. From the first interview to the last follow-up appointment, she explained what I should expect at very step. She neither soft-pedaled nor minimized the gravity of the surgery or the ensuing discomfort; she spared no effort to ensure that everything went well. Her abilities and skills, as well as her “bedside manner,” are second to none. I was very pleased with th final results of both procedures.
How would you describe Dr. Lee’s care to someone who might be interested in plastic surgery?
Her medical care: scrupulous, painstaking, results-oriented. She herself? Perhaps “godsend” best sums her up!I have spoken highly of Dr. Lee to my Mother*, who I expect to accompany to Dr. Lee’s office within the month to remove a mole that she feels is suspect. Having lost a fair amount of skin from the upper region of her back on the removal of a melanoma in 1965, she would like to remove it before it gets much larger.I was very proud to be able to recommend to her the outstanding Dr. Lee.— C. “I measured my waist this morning. I’ve lost and inch and a half in 24 days! My flanks are still somewhat numb though, I have to say this was absolutely easy, at no point did I ever need to take anything for discomfort. The hardest thing about it is the wait! I’ve been told that the flanks are the easiest (least discomfort) body part to CoolSculpt. I would not hesitate to do it again.”— Lori Jenkins

“Since having my son 23 years ago, I have had that stubborn, hard to lose lower back fat. No matter how much weight I lost, I couldn’t completely lose it. When I learned of CoolSculpting from Dr. Elizabeth Slass Lee, I thought this could be the answer to my long awaited prayers. Dr. Lee and her staff were wonderful. I felt completely comfortable in their care. They explained the procedure, the possible side effects and the length of time it would take to see results. The CoolSculpting could not have been easier. The machines use suction to attach to the problem area then cool for an hour per cycle. Once the machine is turned on, I was made comfortable with pillows, cool drink, low lights and a flat screen television. I watched a movie on Netflix. The time went by quickly after a few minutes the treated area numbed and I was relaxed and watching a movie. After CoolSculpting my lower back was slightly swollen and numb, unless I touched the area I really didn’t feel it. The amazing thing is there was no down time. I rode my horse after 4 days, no discomfort at all. It has been a week since my CoolSculpting procedure and any swelling I had has been gone for a few days. Every day after I shower I massage the area with lotion for a few minutes. I can already feel less fat when I pinch my back. Dr. Lee explained that it could take up to 4 months for complete results, so I am thrilled that I feel less fat in such a short time. It has been so easy, I would definitely recommend it to anyone! I am excited to see and feel the continued changes.”— Lori Jenkins

Why did you choose Dr. Elizabeth Lee as your Plastic Surgeon?I was researching tummy tuck on the internet. Dr. Lee’s name came up a number of times. The link to the UC Berkeley Parent Network had a couple of positive recommendations. Plus Dr. Lee’s website was informative.
What was your overall impression of Dr. Lee and the way she practices medicine?Wonderfu, friendly, family, she cares. I felt a positive connection with Dr. Lee – I felt supported. As my students would say, “She’s got your back.”
What were some of the major benefits you received as a result of your plastic surgery? With the tummy tuch I finally look fit. I no longer have a protruding belly. It’s really nice to finally sit down and not have any belly fat stick out and over my waist band.
How could she have improved her service to you? (Please be candid)There is nothing really to improve. How would you describe Dr. Lee’s care to someone who might be interested in plastic surgery?Dr. Lee listened to me about loose skin. She then explained to me that not only do I have the loose skin, but my abdominal muscle split. She then explained how she would re-attach my muscle and remove the skin. Dr. Lee is caring and to the point. There was no pressure from Dr. Lee to have the surgery.— C. H.

"Incredible, natural results and a world class surgeon. I had cool sculpting from another practice that was not successful. Dr. Lee not only corrected it she made me look fantastic again! I was so skeptical of ever even considering this again but Dr. Lee was highly recommended so I scheduled a consult. She spent 30 minutes with me discussing the process and eased my concerns and I booked that day. "After breastfeeding my daughter, I lost my boobs. There was nothing left to them. I called them flap jacks. I decided to get breast implants and after much research and information from my surgeon, I decided to go with silicone breast implants, inserted under each breast. I love them!!! My total procedure time was about an hour and a half! And I was able to shower the next day, and was on “home rest” for a week. Lots of resting/sleeping to promote healing during that week. Now, I barely have a scar where the incisions were and I am extremely happy with how they look!"— trishakochi11

"The healing process continues and the results improve every day. I am thrilled with the results and will post a pre and post op picture after my next appt. Even with the healing incisions and swelling I am 100% happier with my body. Dr. Lee has been very supportive and available after the surgery and it makes the recovery much easier knowing that she is there. I have not had any complications and I am still in awe of the neat incision for the tummy tuck and my lovely new belly button. I am looking forward to getting into a regular bra and getting some new clothes!!"— mltel

"When it comes to treatments of any kind, I’m extremely particular when it comes to my own body!! Dr. Elizabeth Lee is by far my favorite to go to and upkeep/ maintain my wonderful results. She makes you comfortable, takes as much time you need as a patient with you and chooses the product that is best for you. It’s rare that a physician takes the time and performs all of the procedures in office. Usually, they have other staff members to take care of the skincare/botox/laser, etc., but not Dr. Lee. She does it all to perfection with a gentle hand. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a comfortable, affordable and hands-on experience that guarantees amazing results!!"— kmduffy

"I wanted to look more rested but I was starting to have circles under my eyes from aging – the circles were really loss of volume. I spoke to my doctor about my options (including surgery). She recommended Belotero because it includes an ingredient that is less likely to cause a blue shadow under the eyes. I’d had Restylane injected under the eyes (tear trough area it’s called) and it was OK but as it had been 18 months, I wanted to try something new. I was very pleased with the results. No one could tell I’d had anything done. I did not look different – I looked rested. Goal achieved!
Update: It’s been 9 months and it’s time for an second Belotero injection. I’m calling my doctor now."— lmcinsf

"I have been a patient of Dr. Lee’s for 7 years. She is an artist. I never look “done” just rested and youthful. I have had different fillers, dysport and Botox over the years. I also have had several laser treatments. I feel so comfortable with Dr. Lee and her wonderful staff. She is amazing at what she does."— Staying Youthful

Why did you choose Dr. Elizabeth Lee as your Plastic Surgeon? She was recommended by different people, among them Dr. Kavai and people from Berkeley Parents Network, where she received very positive feedback.
What was your overall impression of Dr. Lee and the way she practices medicine?Very professional, but also very personal. A rare mix. She is in tune ith patients’ anxieties about potentially invasive + therefore frightening procedures and does everything in her power to address those anxieties in a realistic + compassionate way.
What were some of the major benefits you received as a result of your plastic surgery? Not looking like my other (! joke). No, true. Getting tid of a genetic family trait of droopy eye lid that made all the women look like they were permanently crying. I’m so happy to have broken that chain…!
How could she have improved her service to you? (Please be candid)Not al all. The only thing perhaps to tell me with greater clarity that the “natural” sensation to the lid would only return after several weeks (or months! – I’m not there yet). That’s a minor detail, however.
How would you describe Dr. Lee’s care to someone who might be interested in plastic surgery?Dr. Lee is the most compassionate, humane and professionally excellent surgeon I’ve ever met. She combines rare warmth and caring for her patients – while also being aware of her boundaries! – with high standards of medical practice she goes out of her way to accomodate patients’ needs, devoting much more time and attention than the average doctor.

I am over the moon with the work she did and highly recommend her. She really is a woman’s doctor!"— Sarah R.

"One December morning in 2014, I awoke noticing one of my saline breast implants had leaked and collasped. I seen my family doctor, because I was concerned about infection. He suggested for me to see a plastic surgeon. I searched online in the East Bay area and I discovered Elizabeth Slass Lee, MD, Artful Surgery web site. I called the office in December 2014, and made appointment on January 5, 2015. I gave serious thought about what I want done to the breast implants. I had decide to have them removed. I was okay with that decision. I saw Dr. Slass Lee and she gave me the option of removal, removal and replacement. I wanted to know if I needed a breast lift after removal? Dr. took a digital photo of breast and showed me nipple is in right postion. there was no need for lift. She asked if I want to have the saline out of the other breast until the surgery is done. I opt out of that option and kept my uneven breast. No one seem to notice the problem I was experiencing. I only told my daughter about the problem. I felt embarrassed of the problem. I had the breast implant removal surgery on February 26, 2015 and felt good that day. I experience very little pain unlike, when I got the breast implants and lift 12 years ago. I followed the post surgery care instructions and my daughter assisted me. I had the drains in for four days. I was back to work in 5 days post surgery. I am now three weeks post surgery and happy how I look. I think that was one of my biggest fears. The breast are shaping up nicely and I am happy with how I look implant free."— Implantfree

"I had Juvederm injections in both cheeks and lips. I’ve done this for several years and it’s fending off the inevitable facelift for a bit. The injections in the cheek bone area give enough lift so that when I catch my reflection in bright sunlight, I don’t shrink back in horror, and my lips look more like “me”."— Lilly Yoga

"The best kept secret of the San Francisco East Bay is plastic surgeon Elizabeth S. Lee, MD whose offices are in Berkeley and Lafayette: www.artfulsurgery.com. Dr. Lee performed my face-lift. The results are remarkable; it’s as if the clock has been turned back 20 years. Rather than calling it a “face-lift,” I prefer to call it a “restoration.” My face has been restored to how I perceive myself to be and how I want to project myself to the world: refreshed and vibrant, but still very much me. Though the result is significant, it’s also very natural, neither pulled nor distorted. Even my typically observant friends and siblings haven’t guessed that my fresh look is due to surgical intervention. And, frankly, I’m not about to tell them otherwise. Like so many of Dr. Lee’s clientele—including the uber-earthy Berkeley crowd—I prefer to keep my procedure under wraps. Call me vain, secretive, private, discrete, or all of the above, but wild horses won’t get me to loudly proclaim, “Yes, I’ve had plastic surgery, and I’m proud of it!” Sorry, this will never happen. Patients like me who’ve had great results but who won’t fess up make it very hard for people who diligently want to find a truly skilled and artful plastic surgeon. So, if you happen to be doing your due diligence, I suggest you read and re-read this review very carefully, because it’s literally the ONE-AND-ONLY LOWDOWN you’re going to get from me. And since so many of Dr. Elizabeth S. Lee’s clients are like me, restored but reticent, she may very well remain the East Bay’s best kept secret."— Reticent

"I have been looking for a doctor for a few years now that will do a breast implant removal without a lift.
I had breast augmentation in the nineties when I was in my 30’s. I was disappointed with the result as the implants were too large for my size, it hardened and was painful at times. I am now 54 years with two kids.
I decided to have it redone in 1998, a few years later. My primary doctor actually referred me to the plastic surgeon. In the beginning, I was pleased with the results. But as the years went by and after having two children that I breastfed, my breast sagged and the left side hardened again and was painful at times as well. I was actually ashamed of wearing certain clothes as the left of my breast was noticeable larger than my right.
Five years ago, I decided once again to either have it corrected and just have it removed. I scheduled a consultation with the same doctor. His suggestion was to remove the implants and do a lift. I really didn’t want a lift.
My search continued and was so thrilled to find Dr. Lee. Not only will she remove the implants but will do it without a lift! She was very warm and made me feel so comfortable and eased my worries. I’m so blessed to finally find a doctor that would do this! I’m very happy and pleased with the results. After all these years of trying to conceal my breasts because it was either too large or obvious that I had breast augmentation… I now feel confident enough to wear certain clothes and able to remove my sweater and/or jacket! Thank you so much Dr. Lee!"— MaryFlor

"14 days post-op today, and finally able to upload some post-op pics. Wish I had some pre-op photos to show how huge of an improvement there is, but I could not stand to look at my tummy long enough to take a picture of it, so only pre-op pic I have is the one my PS took of me when I went in for my consult. I looked 4 mons. prego prior to surgery so there has been a HUGE improvement. I am so happy with my results so far – Dr. Lee truly did an amazing job. So thankful that things have gone pretty smoothly so far – no complications, incisions are healing well, bowels are regular (which is like winning the lotto for any surgical pt). Dr. Lee has seen me 4 times seen surgery for post-op care. I know not all docs see there pts this frequently so I feel very well taken care of. With each passing day, I am feeling more and more like myself. My kids went back to school today, and I was able to walk my son to school. Definitely not ready to run any marathons anytime soon, but did feel really accomplished that I was able to do that. Did some laundry, and tidying up around the house. Was hoping to catch a nap before having to pick my son up from school, but no such luck – of course. I have rejoined the upright world (YAY!) as of yesterday. Going to see my fabulous PS, Dr. Lee, tomorrow and hoping she gives me the clearance to drive. I wake-up with a good amount of energy, but definitely pucker out by evening. I remember Dr. Lee telling me that it would be around 4-5 weeks before I started feeling 100%. At the time, I really doubted it would take me that long, but she is proving to be right, of course:) Still taking it “easier,” but not feeling so fragile anymore. Still have quite a bit of swelling in my tummy, especially at the end of the day. Wearing my CG 23hrs/day and hoping that will help with the swelling. Despite the swelling, I see my new tummy starting to take form, and the hint of an hourglass, and I am loving it! Happy healing to all!"

"That’s it. Just could not believe who was looking back at me in the mirror. I did not like the jowls. My motivation was simply to like what I saw in the mirror and now I do. Did it get me more dates? No. Feel happier? I was already happy. Did I do it for someone else? No. Just me. Don’t have this surgery if you are doing it for any other reason than because you want to do it."

"Lower back pain would not allow me to stand up for a long time while working or walk for more than three blocks. My physician recommended breast reduction. I hesitated for a while but then decided that life is too short. The surgery went smoothly. I had had three C-sections from which I recovered quickly but the last one was 18 years ago. The recovery was a bit harder but did not take more than a week. I went back to work immediately and now, 5 weeks after surgery, I feel totally recovered. My back pain is gone. I like the way I look and this has improved my general state of mind. It’s never to late to change."

"I’ve always had bags under my eyes (since I was in elementary school), but it was the over eye droopiness was bugging me. The tired state of my eyes especially bothered me when I was applying makeup. I was nervous about scarring my face and/or (based on before/after photos I’ve seen), not particularly improving the situation. My eyes look better 4 weeks post-op, and I think they’re still healing."

"I had been thinking about breast augmentation for over twenty years. But the idea of doing something un-natural to my body kept me at bay for all these years. Finally, after two kids, years of breastfeeding and a sudden loss of weight, my breast has reached a point that I was no longer comfortable with. Still very anxious about the whole idea and the surgery, I decided to go ahead with the plan and visited several doctors in the Bay Area. Dr Lee stood out from the others from the moment she walked in the room. She met me in my clothes – not in a paper gown – and had a real one on one talk with me where she truly wanted to know what had led me to come see her. She was patient and empathetic. I felt heard and understood. She understood my wish for SMALL implants that would look natural and would fit MY body. This was a huge point of anxiety for me, as I really wanted my breasts to look ‘real’ and understated. She let ME choose the size of the implants. She was wonderful through the entire procedure, from the pre-op visits to the surgery to the post-op visits. She explained everything that was going to happen, she made herself available for extra questions and office visits to qualm my anxiety. The surgical facility she uses is stellar and everyone there was as professional as she is. She managed the post-op visits as she did the pre-op ones, with care and genuine concern. Weeks and months passed and I am now absolutely and completely thrilled with the result: beautiful, natural-looking breasts that fit my body perfectly. I could not be happier. Thank you Dr. Lee."

"I have been a patient of Dr. Lee’s for over 10 years. Since I have never posted a Yelp review, this may not be published, but I will try. I am in my sixties (maybe that’s why I read, but don’t post on Yelp!) and I have been so happy with the work she’s done on my face and neck. I am a poor advertisement for her, because no one has even noticed! Facial surgeries, laser, skin treatments, fillers–I’ve done it all and I can tell you I look better now than I did 15 years ago. I would caution people who are considering either surgery or fillers to make sure they see someone with lots of experience and a good eye, because these procedures have to be very subtle or you will look overdone.
I recommend her without reservation."

"Best investment in my appearance ever! WOW!
At 53, the skin on my face and neck was really starting to sag, my cheeks were splotchy red, my neck was full-on sun damaged red, and the skin at my jawline was getting droopy. No more. Everything I just listed is gone!
Completely gone!
When I tell people I have children that are almost 30, they look deep into my face as if searching for signs of real cosmetic work. My skin actually looks dewy – at my age! Not only can I see the difference, but my skin feels fabulously tighter.
The procedure itself is uncomfortable, not painful, and you need to sign up for five treatments spaced a couple of weeks or so apart. There was ZERO down time for me and I found that every new treatment was easier because I knew what to expect. I started to see results before my second treatment."

"I had two ears whose peircings had stretched to the point of splitting my earlobe. From the moment she escorted me back to the exam room, I felt at complete ease. Dr. Lee is of course an excellent physician, but she also relates to you on a personal level. She fixed my earlobes and “saw” me and diagnosed issues multiple other doctors could not see, and gave me useful referrals. She understands the psychological importance of plastic surgery, and that which surgery can and cannot help. I will not hesitate to refer others to her. I feel wonderful now that I have normal earlobes and am able to wear peirced earrings again in just three more months. She is so skilled, I didn’t even feel the numbing medication, nor is there even a scar you can see. I felt like a friend, rather than a patient. Rarely do you find a physician who cares about your healing, rather than just medical treatment, which rarely works alone. I have worked with many physicians, as a nurse, and I would not hesitate to work with Dr. Lee professionally, as well as be her patient. that is the highest praise I can give anyone. I trust her without question. Thank you so much.."

"This is a review in praise of Dr. Elizabeth Lee.
I had wanted surgery for the bags under my eyes, as well as lip filler to counter act the thinning and signs of age which I was not ready to accept. My previous year had been trying, my face worse for the wear.
As I do not live in California, and was in for only a short stay, Dr. Lee suggested that I have filler along the cheekbone beneath my eye socket, and come back for the surgery when my schedule allowed.
A few moments in her chair, I emerged with ten years erased from my face. Dr. Lee explained that the volume loss along the cheekbone below the eye socket that occurs with age exacerbates the look of the sunken tear trough. Dr. Lee injected Radiesse, the result being a refreshed look, completely natural. In her skilled hands a syringe and filler restored my face to the one which felt again like my own.
Next came my lips. Having seen so many photographs of ungainly lip enhancements, I had been concerned that injectables were not easily controlled. How wrong I was. Dr. Lee works with the material with the eye of an artist and the hands surgeon, creating precisely the enhancement I had hoped for.
The skill of the surgeon is crucial, key.
Dr. Lee was extremely judicious in her use of the filler (Juvederm), renewing the plumpness time had stolen while keeping a look that is natural without the slightest hint of trout pout. I had requested a more three dimensional definition of the vermillion border, without distorting my cupid’s bow, or creating an overly inflated artificial look. This is precisely what I got.
I have a tendency to faint during any medical procedure; Dr. Lee was extremely gentle and patient, guiding me through step by step, remaining sensitive to my response throughout.
As I move and travel frequently, I am still planning on going to Dr. Lee for surgery in the future, as I would prefer a solution which requires less upkeep than the injectable fillers.
If I lived near her practice in Berkeley, I would be in regularly, seeing what other miracles her skilled and practised hands could bestow upon my face and body!!!
I am delighted with her work, and recommend her unreservedly.
Cost of injectables- $650. per cc- worth every penny!!!!!"

"Dr. Lee was referred to me by another doctor. I can’t say enough about how fabulous my necklift experience was and is. I am in my 70’s and I had a serious turkey waddle neck. The folds of skin even hung over my turtle necks. Dr. Lee did an incredible job with hardly any discomfort. Both she and her office staff were extremely wonderful and dealt with my fears and anxieties. The surgery was so much easier than I thought it was going to be and Dr. Lee was always available for my questions and concerns both before and after the surgery. In my opinion she is truly an artist and I would recommend her to anyone."

"I really like Dr. Lee. She is an honest, straightforward doctor who is not motivated to do procedures unless they are the best answer for you. I have gone to her for small injections such as Dysport and Restylane and also a small surgical procedure. I also consulted with her about a more major surgery, and she was very kind and honest and explained I would not benefit from it, which I really appreciated. I get the feeling other plastic surgeons would not only do any procedure, but push procedures that are unnecessary. She is very smart and pleasant and I always have a positive experience at her office."

"Twenty years ago I had my 32Bs upsized, and for 20 years I was self-conscious about how very large they were, how COLD my saline implants always made me feel, and in general was very unhappy with the results, but was afraid to go under the knife again. The doctor performing my original surgery put in implants that left me a 32DD which was far larger than I wanted and totally dismissed my requests for smaller implants. This past year, I interviewed many doctors before selecting one who actually seemed to hear me. I am so happy to say that I have my own healthy perky breasts back–after explant only. I did not opt for a lift and have had wonderful results.
It has now been 6 months later and I am very happy to say that I have my natural breasts, no lift, no pain. I am happier than I ever imagined I could be with my body. I am also very thankful that she is the type of doctor who will encourage minimally invasive proceedures vs. multiple unnecessary surgery. I had many thourough follow-up visits and definitely the most seemless procedure across the board I could imagine."

My neck lift and laser peel went perfectly. I always knew what to expect because Dr. Lee prepared me so well.
And, 2 1/2 months later, the results are remarkable. I look like myself but my younger, well-rested self.
The very best part is that I look so natural. Nothing is pulled or tight. I just look 10 years younger."

"I initially visited Dr. Lee to discuss my very raised and bumpy c-section scar but, took the opportunity to talk about a possible tummy tuck as well. She was so easy, approachable and informative. She explained my options and at no time did I feel like she was pushing me in any direction. After researching other plastic surgeons in the area, I decided to have the tummy tuck and to go with Dr. Lee. Not only was there an overwhelming amount of positive feedback posted about her at various sites but, she was also incredibly personable, communicative and a good listener. The surgery went very well and recovery was just as she explained, not fun but no complications. She has worked continuously with me to ensure that my new scar does not grow like my old one. I would absolutely go back to Dr. Lee if I needed other procedures in the future."

"First off, the lady is personable and very straight-forward about what is and is not possible in dealing with surgical and non-surgical procedures. I appreciate this greatly. Secondly, when I ask her more complex questions about the choice of one method, procedure, or product versus another and why she would choose to use one or another, she answers it well. She is neither dismissive, nor is she evasive. She is direct, respectful and happy to discuss pros and cons. She is a believer in her patients not looking “done”, and having met some folks who have gone to her for a variety of procedures, I can say her work looks good. I like her knowledge, her skill-set, her training, and the results I’ve seen. She’s a smart lady and, I think, a person after my own heart.
I am planning to have a tummy tuck and after researching different methods, and meeting a minor f-ton of plastic surgeons, I can say confidently that I will be choosing her as my surgeon.
As for the detractors, I can’t say what is or is not true. I don’t know that they followed their post-surgical instructions. I don’t know that they are or are not being honest. I don’t know if they had legitimate complaints or not. I only know that I like what I have seen and the answers she gave me. I’ll be happy to update after I get my belly worked-over. 🙂"

"My experience at this office was great. I live in San Francisco and this office is in Berkeley…but Dr. Lee was recommended by a friend and she was offering a laser peel special, so I thought I would give it a shot. Well worth the drive (even in traffic). This office is busy, but they process you quickly and competently from your intake paperwork to your follow-up call. I appreciate this. My consult was somewhat quick but I left informed and I was offered plenty of opportunities to ask questions and could have had more time with Dr. Lee if I needed it (In case the brief consult sounds like a negative, I should probably add I’m a nurse and not new to laser treatments so we didn’t need to reinvent the whole wheel on this treatment). As far as the actual Laser peel goes, the experience was also very good and the result was much better than I anticipated. I’m very happy with my experience at this office and will recommend this treatment to friends."— allyf

"I have a keloid scaring condition which has always prohibited me from taking care of a very embarrassing facial hair problem I have had since I was a teenager. Now 30 with at the time a very noticeable beard, I found myself having to tweeze, shave, epilate and wax my chin area almost weekly. Because of my scaring condition I had always been afraid to get laser hair removal in fear of getting huge raised scars.
So for years I have been completely ashamed of my appearance, until I went to see Dr Lee on a referral of a co-worker of mine. Dr Lee took me in on a consultation. I expressed my fears and after examining my skin and facial hair, as well as my medical history she felt 100% confident that I would not have a reaction and would be a great candidate for the laser hair removal. Still apprehensive, Dr Lee assured me that she would in fact be doing the procedure herself, which made me feel better about going in. I decided to take her advice and started treatment within a month of our consultation. I have to say that after 4 treatments, there is an incredible difference. I no longer have thick coarse stubble resembling a man’s beard, but smooth skin with a few areas that still need a retouch.
It has been about 2-3 months since my last treatment, and I have minimal growth. I will be making an appointment for a touch up, but to not have to take 30 minutes out of my week every week and be able to wear my hair up without feeling gawking eyes staring at me is life changing. I wish that I had met Dr Lee years ago during those tough teen years but I am glad I found her now. The price is reasonable, for those of you who spend money on waxing frequently it is worth it. The procedure took in all about 10 minutes, and the pain was very minimal. To explain the pain factor it is comparable to a quick rubberband snap. I had zero irritation, and I commend Dr Lee and her staff for checking in after each procedure. I would recommend Dr Lee to anyone in search of enhancing their look or taking care of a problem in their appearance. She really takes the time to listen to all of your concerns and address them in the treatments."— gina in East Bay

"I had implants years ago and was always uncomfortable with them. They felt large and not a part of my body. I had severe back and neck pain as the result of implants that were too large for my body. Dr. Lee was very supportive in discussions of the removal process and was the most informed doctor I met in explant surgery. She was the only doctor who did not try to convince me to have smaller implants placed in my body. I am very glad I chose her for my procedure. My surgery was a complete success."

"Dr Lee is great. Feet on the ground. Not money hungry. I went in for laser surgery for sun damage and came out with face cream (Obagi) that is really working. I’ve been to other dr’s who make you feel railroaded and like there are a few ex-wives to pay for. she’s not in that league at all. She is exactly what a real aging woman who has to look good for work needs.
I’m so relieved!

"I have been hesitant about seeing a doctor for a very embarrassing facial hair problem I have. I am fair in complexion with very dark, coarse facial hair. It is something that I have been dealing with since a teenager and has cause me to be extremely self conscious about my appearance. To top it off I have a scarring condition, keloid, where any sort of abrasion can cause my skin cells to over produce resulting in a hideous scar. I have been told by doctors in that past that I should stay away from any cosmetic surgery, and had dermatologists say the opposite. Not knowing what to believe, I went in for a consultation with Dr. Lee. I was reassured that this was a safe procedure and one that I would benefit from. She normally has a technician in her office do this procedure, but knowing my history offered to do the procedure herself. The results have been amazing. With only mild discomfort during the treatment, I have no scarring and after two treatments, I would say a 80% decrease in my facial hair. From having to wax nearly weekly, I am now down to maintaining what little I have only once a month. I am looking forward to a few more treatments so I can throw away my waxer. Anyone with keloid scarring problems should talk to Dr Lee, though it may seem simple to most this was truly life changing for me."

"I went to Dr. L’s office for a consultation regarding Latisse and walked away with so much more! Never have I felt so comfortable and at ease in a doctor’s office. Dr. L and her assistant are absolutely fabulous and lacking the cold, sterile demeanor usually endured when being introduced to a new physician. I cannot say enough about their professionalism which is paired with a personal touch that bypasses the stalwart barrier between doctor and patient. I highly recommend consulting with this office for any procedure you may be considering and promise that you will walk away reassured and well informed to make the decision that is right for you"

"After nursing three kids for six years, my breasts were more like sacks than breasts. With much trepidation (because I am not the plastic surgery ‘type’) I made an appt. The Dr comes highly recommended for her skills in the surgery room but I wanted more.
What I found is that she is real and she got it. She got that I was nearly 40 and not ready to have my breasts look 80. She got it that I was not a rich person trying hard to look young. She gave me respect. The result is 110% satisfaction. The extra 10% is because my breasts are better than I even asked for. Short answer: Don’t walk, run to see her."

"Dr. Lee is obviously a great surgeon, but she is wonderful for the day to day procedures also. I visited Dr. Lee to inquire about Botox and filler. I also informed her that I have a very low tolerance to pain. She was wonderful. My face looks amazing. I think she shaved ten years off it, and there was no pain involved. Plus I trusted her. She is a very confident woman. I certainly will be going back to Dr. Lee for all my cosmetics needs. She is the best in the Berkeley area."

"Well, this experience was certainly pleasant! When you can make that statement after about 12 injections into your face it means something! I heard about Dr. Lee through RealSelf where she has written thorough, honest answers to questions about plastic surgery and anti-aging procedures for a couple of years now. I had specific areas I wanted to improve and she took the time to really look at me and truthfully tell me what was possible and what could only be addressed through surgery. We worked out a treatment plan together, she clearly told me what the prices would be upfront, and she had common sense suggestions for next steps. You might think that having another woman point out what’s less-than-perfect about your features would be devastating, but Dr. Lee is straightforward, warm, understanding, non-threatening and understands when you say you want to keep some of those freckles! I’m going back!"

"I had a wonderful experience with my surgery. From the moment I met my Dr. to the day of my surgery I have been treated with such care. If I had to do it again I would do it in a heart beat. I am an avid runner and after having my two boys I was not able to get my body even close to the way it was before kids no matter how much I exercised and dieted. My Dr. changed my life and has given me the confidence I once had about my body.
It has been almost 3 months since my surgery and I am back at the gym working out and I feel fantastic!"

"I can’t believe I waited so long to have my arms done! I have been overweight since I was a teenager, in my twenties I developed what I referred to as my “third arm”. It was unsightly to say the least. I covered it with long or 3/4 length sleeves for the next 15 years. No amount of weight lifting made a difference in its appearance (granted I am 80 pounds overweight) so I learned to live with it.
I always said I would wait until I lost all the weight then I would have my arms done. Well all that changed when I became engaged and went shopping for a gown, they don’t make wedding dresses with sleeves (at least not pretty ones)! So I found my dream dress and decided to have the sleeves added on. Suddenly I was so concerned with how my arms looked and although I have always had a positive self esteem I began to feel very negative about my appearance. My fiancé offered to pay for me to have the procedure done so I gleefully began my search for a knowledgeable Doctor. Thank god I found her!
Dr. L and her office team we so warm and welcoming. They made me feel totally at ease like I had known them for years! I was so nervous about even doing the consult but she was genuine and made me feel so comfortable talking about arms I had hidden for years. Dr. L was very comprehensive when explaining the procedure, post op, expectations etc and I knew after my first consult that I wanted her to reshape my arms. I highly recommend her; she is very talented, honest and artistic.
She had to do some major reconstruction to make my 3rd arm disappear and now 2½ months after the surgery she is using a Sciton laser treatment on the scars to reduce the redness.
I have 2 months until my wedding and I am happy to report I will be sleeveless!!! She saved my wedding dress drama and gave my self esteem a huge lift! Thank you so much Dr. L."

"I am very pleased with my breast lift. After breast feeding my daughter for a year and a half, I had long sagging breasts. Now after having this procedure done, they are lifted, full and perky. She also used a type of breast lift called a doughnut hole lift, where she only makes an incision around the areola, so I have minimal scarring."

"Pro: the stuff works!
Con: it isn’t cheap
I did it because my forehead wrinkles aged me significantly; the Botox treatment really smoothed them out.
Importantly, my doctor is careful not to over-do it, which is a real risk. She does it right and the result is a natural, improved look."

"I am turning 60 and am quite youthful – but was not looking as young as I felt. Bags under my eyes, upper eyelids disappearing and a neck that looked quite old.
I had all three procedures done at once. I returned to work ten days after my surgery. I am thrilled with the results. I look exactly like me, but like me 15 years ago. I was able to return to work within 10 days, but I felt a bit anxious – although no one said a word, there were noticeable incisions around my eyes, and some swelling for sure.
Although it took almost 7 weeks for the swelling not to be noticeable, no one but me (and my doctor) could really tell. The pain was more than manageable, although the discomfort has lingered somewhat (around the ear area, mostly). I would recommend all three procedures for those who, like me, want to look the way they feel.
I do caution that having a doctor who is easily available, who is approachable and understanding, make a large difference!"

"Before discovering my Dr., I had allowed another plastic surgeon to perform a reduction of my earlobes which had gotten rather droopy with age (I was 57 at the time, I think my earlobes were going on 75) I was not happy with the results although, to another person the outcome might have been perfectly acceptable.
The first surgeon had made some incisions that were not well placed, and the overall result was disturbing to me. I didn’t want to have the first surgeon do any more work on them. So, I went to Dr. L asking if she would consider repairing someone else’s work. Although I had found her name totally by random, I instantly felt I had discovered someone quite special, someone who was wonerfully emapthetic and and just as importantly, realistic. She agreed to perform the surgery, but was frank with me in saying that there was no promise the result would be necessarrily better than what I had. Fortunately, she was able to do a beautiful re-repair of my ears, essentially disguisng the original scars that had been bothering me.
Besides the earlobe reduction, the first surgeon had performed an eyelift with which I was quite pleased. It was my Dr.’s opinion that I had indeed received an excellent cosmetic result.
At no time did I sense any pressure from her regarding my decision to go ahead and have the ear surgery repeated. Nor did she make any promises that the outcome would be much different. Fortunately her surgery made a considerable differnece, and I am grateful for her willingness to do it. I only wish I had known about her practice sooner. However, now that I have found her and have experienced not only her artistic surgical skills but her delightfully humorous and compassionate personality as well, there is simply no one else I would go to for a cosmetic procedure."

"I’ve gone to different places over the years for skin care and thought I’d gotten the best results possible–then went to Dr. Lee who first put me on the Obagi system–which I had tried before, but hadn’t gotten as good results, because Dr. Lee’s method is more aggressive than the standard. I never found that she pushed anything–we always talked about options–and over time I have had a little filler, a little laser for red skin–every tweak has really helped in a subtle way–almost no one really notices, but I get compliments about looking great–
And having read the one bad review, all I can say is that it doesn’t match anything else I’ve ever heard about Dr. Lee. She’s really nice, and the staff is always helpful and professional."

"I had a great experience with Dr. Lee. I went to her for liposuction on my abdomen and flanks, and was just delighted with the outcome. She impressed me from the beginning by giving me very objective advice about the technology options available to me. The advice was focused on outcome and personal safety to me, rather than on potential income to her, which I found highly professional and refreshing. From the pre-op visits, to the surgery, to the post-op care, Dr. Lee was always extremely accessible, friendly, and willing to take whatever time was needed to answer my questions. Her office staff is also extremely warm and caring. I was very pleased with the outcome of my procedure, and would definitely work with Dr. Lee again if I ever decide to have further work done. Overall, very highly recommended."

"I found this doctor on Yelp and so want to pass on the word. I was really nervous going in to see her, worried about the “perfect doctor” vibe I might find. Was I happily surprised! Dr. Lee is really straightforward, listened to my concerns without any form of judgement and then laid out my options clearly along with her recommended treatment plan. When I had more questions, she answered them, no problem. I chose not to be treated that day, and that was fine with her too. When I came back to start treatment, I felt like I was returning to see a friend. The injectibles I got look great and she was really gentle and kind, even though I was a nervous wreck. I could not be more pleased with the care I received in Dr. Lee’s office. I would recommend her to anyone without question or hesitation."

She was professional, caring and fully explained the procedures, including the possible diagnoses. Both lesions where benign, fortunately. If I had needed more than the lesions excised, I am 100% certain that she would remained professional, caring, and committed to finding best treatment plan for me. TEN STARS if Yelp would let me."

"What can I say about Dr. Lee that hasn’t been said yet…hmmm…she’s GREAT!
I met Dr. Lee when I was looking around for a surgeon to perform a hernia repair. I had seen a few surgeons prior to Dr. Lee but I was still on the fence as to when I wanted the surgery done and what I actually needed done…until I met Dr. Lee.
When I first met Dr. Lee she was very professional. She asked me all the right questions and answered all my questions, that is until she took a look at my “problem areas”, then she dropped the professional tone and spoke to me like a girlfriend and said “poor sweetie, we can’t have you walking around like this anymore…you need to get this fixed”! It was right there and then that I knew she was going to be my doctor. You see, Dr. Lee is very honest with you and if you don’t need something done, she will tell you it’s not needed.
Her bedside manner after surgery was wonderful too. I had major surgery done and everything turned out great. She fixed me alright! Right after my surgery, she even opened up her office during the Christmas holidays just for me. She wanted to check on me before the long Christmas break to make sure I was okay. Did I mention she gave me her cell # to call her if I had any problems or questions? What more could anyone ask for?
Oh yes one more thing I almost forgot to add…she makes you custom made jewelry as sort of a thank you gift. I shuffled into her office the day after surgery for a post op visit and shuffled out with this pretty little necklace. At first I thought I was so special, come to find out she makes them for all her patients FOR FREE – go figure!
The only complaint I have about the doctor is that she doesn’t do house calls…yet …hint hint 😉"

"Dr. Lee is a gem in her profession. Not only is she the best at what she does, she is actually a wonderful, warm person. I say this only because we all know how it feels to go to a doctor and get the quick run around or feel a lack of compassion and understanding on their part. Dr. Lee is quite the opposite.. And if you are looking to get work done on your appearance, I think this quality is essential. You obviously want someone who is not only going to listen to you, but pick up on any subtle or unconscious cues you may be expressing. On a side note, I can also say I have recommended many people to her who have also been very happy with the results of her work as a surgeon. Before making any decisions about doing work with anyone else, it is my advice to also get a consultation with her. You will not be disappointed!"

"I haven’t been a patient long but I always feel like I am visiting with an old friend. In addition to her fantastic bedside manner, she is very knowledgeable and knows exactly what to recommend for treatment. I had pigmentation, oil and acne along with my crows feet. I am extremely happy with the Obagi system and Dr. Lee’s methods. Since I’ve been working with her, I’ve had people come in close and say, “you look amazing,” with a puzzled voice, like, what’s changed, I can’t tell. Nor would they because my everything looks natural.
It’s great to know that I have a doctor I can continue working with as I get older with the same goal as mine – to minimize the amount of work I need done later in life by maintaining what I’ve got now."— Absinthia V.

"I read about Dr Lee on Berkeley Parent’s Network website and then checked her out on Yelp! Went in to discuss skin care issues and possibly get some poison injected into my face to make it look younger! She was as good or better than everyone says. So friendly, So easy to communicate with, No “I’m a DOCTOR” vibe at all. We decided I could use some fillers in the deep crevices of my face, and she was great about my squirmy spastic behavior while in the chair. Next day I was still swollen so called the office to make sure it was nothing major. They were great. Called me back right away, offered for me to come in even though it was not deemed necessary. Highly recommended!"

"When I attended Dr. Lee’s practice for the first time I expected the typical Doctors office experience. You know, harsh lighting, uncomfortable chairs, stressed out unfriendly staff, long waits and a rushed Doctor trying not to be too obvious about wanting to move onto the next patient. Well, I was pleasantly proved wrong. Dr. Lee’s office is the polar opposite of that scenario. Walking into her waiting room, you feel as though you are coming home. The lighting is dim, the couch is super cozy, soft music is piped in and you are greeted by cheerful, engaged staff. Dr. Lee is absolutely amazing too. She explains procedures and goes over options with incredible detail to ensure your comfort level. You never feel rushed with Doctor Lee and she listens to each and every concern or question you might have. She makes it her personal goal to see that you are happy. Oh, and did I mention her office is kid friendly? Huge bonus for busy parents with not alot of “kid free” time. When you leave Dr. Lee’s office you feel like you’ve just spent time with your best friend, favorite family member, trusted mentor and oh so capable and outstanding surgeon.
