In the past, plastic surgeons believed that neck rejuvenation could not be achieved without a full facelift.
Fortunately, this is no longer the case! It is entirely possible to improve the area under the chin, down the front of the neck and along the border of the jaw, with minimal incisions as a stand-alone surgical procedure.
A neck lift will help improve the definition of your jawline and take years off your appearance. If you are frustrated by a loose, bulging, or sagging neck, we invite you to schedule a private consultation for a Neck Lift today!
The neck is commonly the first area to show signs of aging. The jawline softens, jowls form, fullness appears under the chin, and vertical bands start to develop down the front of the neck. In order to correct these developments, Dr. Lee repairs and tailors the support structures of the neck and fat through a small incision under the chin. Dr. Lee makes additional incisions in the crease behind the ear to remove extra skin. These incisions are well-hidden and difficult-to-spot. Dr. Lee’s artful neck lift techniques will reestablish firmer, more youthful contours for the long-term!
This minimal incision procedure can be done on an outpatient basis; you have surgery in an accredited surgical facility and sleep in your own bed that night.
The recovery is less prolonged than that of a facelift, with the return to a desk job a week after surgery. Results are long-lasting and natural-looking.
The procedure can be further tailored to your specific anatomy. The best way to determine what approach suits your neck is to come in and meet with us. During your consultation we will talk about your concerns and aesthetic goals and together design the best treatment plan for you.
Before your surgery you will need to stop smoking and taking antihistamines. You will also need to avoid tanning to ensure your skin is healthy for the surgery.
Pick-up any necessary prescriptions prior to the surgery. You may also want to pick up easy to make foods as you will not be able to drive and get food when on pain medications. Arrange for friends to drive you around as well as take you to and from your neck lift surgery.
You will need to stop ingesting food twelve hours before your surgery. Make sure to dress comfortably the morning of your surgery and wear clothes that will not apply pressure to the neck when being removed.
Arrive a few minutes early to your procedure. You should have a few minutes to sign in and relax before the surgery.
You will be greeted by your surgical team who will clean your treatment area and mark out where incisions will be made. Pre-determined anesthesia will be applied alongside a sedative. Once you are resting, Dr. Lee will begin the surgery. She will apply incisions to the areas discussed during your private consultation. Dr. Lee will then reduce unnecessary tissues and trim away excess skin. The remaining tissues will be sculpted and the skin pulled back. Incisions will be closed and bandaged.
This procedure commonly takes about one to three hours.
There are a few types of incisions that can be used to perform a neck lift. Incision placement and size will vary based on the extent of improvement needed. For patients who need minimal improvement, a mini neck lift can be performed. In a mini neck lift, a small incision is made near each ear.
In the case significant tissue needs to be removed and lifted, incisions will be made in front of the ear at the hairline and end at the bottom of the hairline.
An incision may also be made under the chin. The chin lift approach will help remove extra fat and tighten muscles while enhancing the effects of the overall neck lift.
These incisions may be used individually or in combination to best address your anatomical features.
Fat below the chin and droopy jowls can make even a healthy individual look older and out of shape. This fat may be referred to as a “turkey neck” and is often a source of self-consciousness. A “turkey neck surgery” will reduce and tighten saggy skin, helping to redefine your face. The primary benefit of a neck lift is that it will boost your confidence by making you appear younger and more fit!
Men and women who are in good overall health but wish to address sagging skin around the neck qualify for a neck and chin lift surgery. Individuals with excess, droopy skin under the chin that breaks their jawline are ideal candidates. Sometimes referred to as a “wrinkled neck” surgery, the neck lift is excellently suited for addressing wrinkled skin, creased skin, and sagging around the neck and lower face.
In your private meeting with Dr. Lee, you will have the opportunity to discuss your concerns and share your expected outcome from a neck lift. She will ask you lots of questions in order to gauge your health. She will ask about past procedures, allergies, and medications. Dr. Lee will also examine your lower face and neck to get a better understanding of how to approach your procedure.
Together, you and Dr. Lee will create a treatment plan that addresses your concerns, takes your unique anatomy into consideration, and is guaranteed to improve the aesthetics of your appearance.
Towards the end of the meeting, Dr. Lee and you will talk about your interest in the surgery and whether it is a procedure you would like to pursue. If you decide to take the next step, you and Dr. Lee will choose a date for the surgery. She will inform you how to prepare for the surgery and recovery. This will include instructions for you to take home with you. If at any time you have questions or concerns, please contact our office. Our staff will be happy to assist you.
A face and neck lift are often performed during a single surgery. A facelift is a rejuvenating procedure that will leave you looking significantly younger. As we age, the skin of our face loses elasticity. This is due to the body decreasing the production of important skin proteins, acids, and other elements as well as the effects of gravity on the skin over time. The result is sagging skin that can make you look and feel older than you truly are.
A facelift includes strategic incisions hidden in the hairline. Through these incisions, excess skin and tissues will be removed. The remaining skin will be lifted and pulled back to provide you with taut, smooth results.
A neck lift and facelift will leave you with defined facial contours and much fewer wrinkles.
After your procedure you will be taken to a recovery room where you will stay until you are healthy and aware enough to go home. During the first few days of your recovery, rest will be very important. Stay hydrated and make sure to get plenty of sleep.
Your incision sites will be sore and the treatment area will be swollen. Pain medication will help you control discomfort. You will need to limit head movement. Propping a pillow behind your head will help you remain comfortable. You will also need to sleep on your back until your incisions heal.
During this time it will be important for you to attend follow-up appointments with Dr. Lee. In these appointments she will monitor your healing, remove stitches, clean incision sites, and change bandages. She will also ask about your recovery and want to know what you are experiencing. This is a great time to ask new questions and voice any concerns you might have.
Dr. Lee will also guide you on when to return to common activities like working out and swimming. These appointments will act as a great way to ensure you are on the right path to your best recovery.
You will notice your results immediately. However, it will take a few weeks for swelling to decrease.
You will immediately notice your results. Your neck will be smoother, have fewer wrinkles, and will have a slimmer appearance. Your jawline should also appear more taut and defined.
The procedure will effectively turn back the clock on your overall facial appearance by years.
These results are long-lasting, and with a consistent weight and healthy lifestyle, should last years.

A neck lift requires a few incisions that will be hidden along the natural contours of the head. Through these incisions excess skin and tissue will be removed. The remaining skin will then be tightened and lifted to help improve the natural contour of the neck.
A neck lift should not be painful. The recovery from the surgical procedure will include swelling, bruising, and discomfort, conditions that accompany most surgeries. A neck lift procedure may cause discomfort but that can be controlled with medications. In the rare case that you experience significant pain, contact your surgeon.
The cost of a neck lift varies on a case-by-case basis. For an exact price for your own neck lift procedure, schedule a consultation with us.
