Halo™, created by Sciton®, is the first fractional hybrid laser of its kind. Combining a fractionated surface treatment with a deep rejuvenating modality of the deeper layer of the skin, Halo produces smoother, brighter, glowing, tighter, beautiful skin without the downtime of older style laser therapy. It is quickly becoming one of the most popular treatments available as it maximizes benefit while minimizing downtime.

Light based treatments may target either the deep layers or the surface of the skin. Laser devices using CO2 or Erbium wavelengths treat the outside of the skin, directly removing surface layers. Techniques that provide removal of skin are called ABLATIVE. Often customizable for depth of treatment, all ablative laser modalities cause downtime as the skin regrows its superficial, protective surface. While ablative procedures give great improvement in skin texture by improving superficial wrinkles, the healing process often requires up to 2 weeks off work and months to achieve the final result.
Fractionated ablative treatments, commonly called Fraxel, remove surface skin over an evenly distributed percentage of area. The treated spots heal more quickly than with a full surface treatment as the healing can occur from the microscopic untreated edges in, not simply from the bottom up. ArtfulSurgery provides Sciton brand’s Profractional fractionated ablative therapy. A more gentle modality, a series of fractionated laser treatments improve superficial wrinkles as does the deeper laser resurfacing.
NON ABLATIVE lasers do not shave down or remove surface skin. Instead, they work below the surface, reorganizing and stimulating rejuvenative changes in the deeper layers of the skin. These non ablative treatments do not cause downtime as the surface of the skin remains intact. The deep stimulation improves elasticity, moisturization, suppleness of the skin.
Take the non ablative, deep boosting power of a Diode laser, and pair it with the resurfacing power of a gently ablative Erbium laser, deliver them both simultaneously in a single treatment, and you have created a Hybrid procedure, combining the best of both treatment modalities.
All done with minimal downtime! Not much is better than that.
Improvement in surface texture, tone, elasticity and skin health
Halo is a good treatment for both men and women of all skin types and ethnicities who have concerns about the appearance and texture of their facial skin. In general, patients interested in improving the appearance of their skin without the need for significant downtime may be good candidates. Halo is typically used to treat the face, neck, and decolletage although any exposed skin responds well to Halo therapy.
The best way to find out if you would benefit from Halo treatments is to be seen in person at ArtfulSurgery. During the consultation, Dr. Lee will examine your skin concerns and recommend the best course of treatment to address those issues. Customized to the condition of your skin and your aesthetic goals, Dr. Lee may recommend a single or a series of treatments.
Most patients find the Halo procedure very comfortable. Topical anesthetic is applied to the skin prior to treatment to enhance comfort. The entire procedure typically takes less than an hour.
The Halo system is extremely tunable, so each treatment can be customized to the exact level of energy needed to safely and effectively treat your skin through intelligent energy delivery and Dynamic Thermal Optimization. This unique Sciton technology provides the best, most precise treatment to get the results you are looking for.
In order to achieve optimal results from Halo, you may require a single treatment or a series of treatments. At the time of the consultation, Dr. Lee will determine how you would best benefit from Halo. In some cases, certain areas of concern may benefit most from a single treatment, while deeper issues may require a series of treatments to see results.
While many patients can benefit from the advantages of Halo, it may not be for everyone. Dr. Lee is proud to offer a variety of treatments to meet her patients’ needs.
Tyte & Bryte, also made by Sciton, uses broadband light therapy technology to tighten and smooth the skin. Like Halo, it is typically used on the face, neck, and decolletage, but has potential uses on any part of the body. Waves of pulsed light help initiate the body’s natural healing response and improve the appearance of fine lines, dark spots, broken capillaries, spider veins, rosacea, and coarsening of skin texture.
Injectables, including dermal fillers, Botox Xeomin®, and Dysport, are mainly used to correct the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the face. Dermal fillers add volume to the face to improve the appearance of deflation and static lines and wrinkles around the nose and mouth. Botox and Dysport temporarily relax the movement of facial muscles to improve the appearance of dynamic lines and wrinkles around the forehead and eyes.
Patients who are new to Dr. Lee’s office will be asked to come in for a consultation prior to receiving any treatments. During the consultation, Dr. Lee will personally meet with you to discuss your concerns. It is important that Dr. Lee understands your goals so that she can provide proper treatment.
The doctor will use her expertise to recommend the best course of treatment. Halo is a very diverse treatment that can be utilized in a variety of ways to meet each patient’s goals. However, in some cases, the patient may be better suited for an alternative treatment, such as Tyte & Bryte or injectables. Dr. Lee can discuss in more depth the advantages and disadvantages of each treatment at the time of the consultation.
Most patients are able to return to work the day after Halo treatment. Meticulous sun protection is necessary from the day after treatment until all Halo induced changes are complete. You should expect to wear sunscreen and a hat during this period. There will be roughening of the texture of the skin for between 5-7 days after the treatment followed by flaking for 24-72 hours. All of these post treatment responses are minimally visible and should not prevent you from participating in work or leisure activities.
You will be enjoying your Halo results within a week, and the improvement in texture and tone continues for 2 months from the time of treatment. In order to maintain your Halo results, use sun protection at all times.
